Self-employed crab farming

Mud crab farming
Mud crab
Mud crab is becoming more and more popular due to the high demand in the export market.

Commercial crab farming is now spreading rapidly in many areas.

Larger species:
Larger varieties of crabs are called 'green mud crab' in the regional language
It can grow to a maximum width of 22 cm and a weight of 2 kg.
These are free to live. On these toes, many angular lines can be seen.
Small Types:
Smaller varieties, called 'Red Claw'
They can grow to a maximum size of 12.7 cm and a weight of 1.2 kg
Many of these angular lines do not appear. These are the habit of digging.

Both types have high demand in the local and overseas market.

Methods of rearing
Mud crabs can be reared in two ways

01.Grow - Out method

In this way, the young crabs can be reared (5 to 6 months) until they are sufficiently grown.
In this method, ponds are commonly used for the cultivation of crabs.

The size of the pond can range from 0.5 - 2 ha. There should be adequate inflow and the possibility of sea water conversion.
If the pond is small, there should be fences. In natural large ponds, areas where water exits should be strongly protected.

Seedlings of young wild type crabs, up to 10 to 100 g, can be kept as seed crabs.
The rearing period is from 3 to 6 months
Feed from 1 to 3 crabs per square meter and provide supplementary feeding.

Along with commonly considered fish, other foods available in the area may be fed to crabs. (5% of body weight should be fed per day)

Take frequent growing lobsters and monitor general growth and health.
Surgery of the appropriate weight from the third month. With this number reduction, other crabs are likely to grow better.
2. Fattening (thickening) method
Soft tile crabs can be bred for several weeks, until the outer tile is thickened. These hard-tailed crabs are fed into the mound (flesh) of the vertebrae. These can be sold for three to four times more expensive than regular soft crabs

a. Thickening pattern in pots

Thickening method can be handled in coastal ponds of 0.025 - 0.2 ha with water depth of 1 - 1.5 m.
Before releasing the seed crabs, the bottom of the pond should be drained, dried by the sun and placed in a sufficient quantity of lime.

The drawings of the pitcher should be free of holes, free of cracks. Special attention should be given to religious areas. This is because the crabs will escape.
The gateway area should be reinforced with bamboo flow.
Bamboo sticks and netting should be properly fenced. To prevent crab drying, these fences need to be sloped inside the hut.
From fishermen or crab sellers, buy seedlings of crab, depending on the size of the plant, to make it 0.5 to 2 per square meter
In the market, craki is high for crabs weighing over 550 grams. Therefore, it is advisable to seed these crabs as seed crabs. When this happens a square meter should be placed.
Depending on the area and the availability of water crab, 6 - 8 thickness cycles can be handled.
If the breeding pod is large, it should be divided into different beds. It can be divided and grown in different beds in different sizes. This makes it easy to feed, monitor and harvest
If the seed crab spacing is high, you can put the same crabs in the same passage.
Male crabs can reduce the onset of painful male crabs by raising the female crab in separate beds. By placing shelters like old tires and bamboo baskets, you can protect yourself from attack

b. Thickening system

Crab ponds can be grown in sewage or large shrimp ponds with a bracket, floating net or bamboo cage.
Nets can be made with netlon or bamboo poles.
The size of the cage is 3 m x 2 m x 1 m
Food is easy to feed and maintain by stacking the nets.
10 crab per square meter cage and 5 crab per square meter cage. Because there are more cages in the cage, the tip of the crab should pinch. This makes the attack less likely.
However, this is not as popular as in the pond.

Compared to Qro - Out and Thickening methods, the thickening method is more profitable in the short run. Due to the lack of crab seeds and commercial food in India, the croout method is not popular.
Food
C.
Crabs are fed daily with fresh fish and baked chicken meat, at a rate of 5-8% by weight. If two meals are served in a day, a large portion should be served in the evening.

Water quality

Given below Water quality

The quantity given below should be durable
Salinity:
15-25%
Heat:
26-30 ° C
Bio gas:
> 3 ppm
Alkaline acidity:
7.8-8.5

Harvesting and selling
Properly monitor the psoriasis of the crabs.
Harvesting should be done at dawn or in the evening.
Harvested crabs should be washed with good salting water to remove dirt and mud. They should be tied so that their legs do not break.
Harvested crabs should be kept in humid conditions. They should be protected from sunlight. This is because sunlight can increase the mortality of crabs

Can be grown in small puddles

In the first week, feed at the rate of 10% of the lobster weight, and then 5%. If food is not wasted and water quality is poor, food plates can be used.

In well-maintained ponds, it can be grown up to 8 times
